The decoration on the lamp is known as fasce orrizzontali (horizontal stripes). Popular suspension lamps created by the internationally recognized Italian designer Massimo Vignelli are considered to be iconic examples of 1950s Italian design.

Bell-shaped shade with lipless ground and polished rim; body of white background with alternating colored irregular stripes; narrow circular flattened "base" with drilled circular opening; overall mold marks.
