Physical DescriptionAmber tinted glass with red tinted inclusions, pink enameling and gilding; mold-blown, enameled, and gilded. Irregular tapering cylindrical form with one flat side and one half of one other side also flat; flat polished and beveled rim; blotchy pattern of red inclusions runs vertically from base to rim on completely flat side and side with molded cicada; abstract curvilinear pink enamel and gilt decoration encircles vessel in narrow bands below rim and above base, stopping short of covering the molded cicada wings; giant molded cicada, raised above vessel surface, has wings extended diagonally from base to rim; base in stepped-in foot; signed near tail of cicada "E/I/G" in block letters and on base "E. Galle/Nancy" in script; signature in base from mold.Provenance
