Interpretive Notes
After Gallé’s death in 1904, the glassworks continued under the direction of his widow, Henriette Grimm Gallé. The company suspended production from 1914 to 1919, and then it reopened under the direction of Gallé’s son-in-law. Art glass was produced until 1936, when the glassworks was closed.

Physical Description"Relief" Vase, Tomatoes (Vase a relief, Tomates). Colorless, yellow, brown, and orange tinted glass; cased and blown, mold-blown with compressed air assist; cut, acid-etched. Ovoid form, flat, beveled rim; decorative motif of tomatoes and leafy tomato vines encircling vessel; flat polished base and pontil area. Molded signature "Galle".
