Physical DescriptionColorless, opaque white non-lead glass; blown, overlay, cut, stamped silver. (a) Oval boat shape, with projecting lobed handles at either end, the sides rounded; colorless glass body with white overlay cut partly away to form decoration on the sides; the handles with curving white sections on the handles, a band of triangles below the rim, with a band of curving ornaments looking like inverted tulips below, and a band of diamonds at the base; polished concave base; silver bail handle attached to the glass handles on silver rotating hinges, the handle with raised scrolls and masks; the hinges with bulbous pads on either side. (b) Oval, thin, flat silver form, with raised elaborate scrolls, flowers and foliage, with curved cutouts at either end to fit over the handles on (a); free- standing pear finial with leaves holding it above the cover; the cover plate formed from two identical, stamped pieces, soldered together across the middle.
