Interpretive Notes
Tiffany’s interest in ancient glass is reflected in many of his decorative techniques and glass compositions. “Agate” or “chalcedony” glasses, made in antiquity and the Renaissance, imitated vessels carved of semiprecious stone. This vase is inscribed “Exhibition Piece” on the base.
