Physical Description32 Chessmen. Lead glass, blue; cast, cut and polished. Cast by the "lost wax" method, and the sides and base were wheel-polished after removal from the mold. Eight-sided Pawn with knop on top. Queen is female bust and head with crown, hair in queue. Knight in the form of a chest and head (bust) of a Roman soldier with helmet and octagonal base. Bishop, octagonal base with chest and head (bust) of a figure in bishop's mitre, hair in queue behind. Castle, octagonal base, round tower with four smaller attached towers. King, male figure holding cross in hands with crown on head, octagonal base.
