Physical DescriptionWhite opaque and blue translucent glass; adhesive, sulphide; assembled from fragments of two objects: head either was part of blown or cast and cased object with carved, ground, and polished ornament, or was cast; base glass was part of plaque or flat floor of vessel that was blown or (probably cast), apparently rotary polished, and wheel-cut; head was ground flat on underside, then attached to base glass with adhesive. Fragment: composite. Head of female in low relief, shown in profile facing left; she has elaborate coiffure, with abundant curls in front of diadem, hair combed back on top of head, gathered at back behind veil, and falling in ringlets down side of neck; veil falls in folds, covering of neck. Head is attached to flat element with one straight wheel-cut groove on upper surface and apparent marks of rotary polishing on reverse.Provenance
