Physical DescriptionColorless glass, lead glass; blown, applied. Vase: bell-shaped. Rim plain, slightly everted, with rounded lip; wall descends in very steep, elongated S-shaped curve, then straightens and curves in again at bottom, so that body suggests tall, inverted bell rising from shorter inverted bell; base disk-shaped, with sloping top, vertical side and flat bottom; pontil mark removed by grinding and polishing. Two opposed scrolls applied to bottom of wall, drawn up, then folded out and down, immediately below top of lower "bell". Signature scratched on underside of foot, at center: "Steuben" (cursive).
