Physical DescriptionColorless lead glass, white sulphide; blown, encased, cut, molded sulphide. (a) Convex, circular shape, with a cut convex rectangular panel on top, enclosing a molded sulphide bust of a man (Voltaire), facing sinister, inscribed "CAUNOIS F." on the shoulder; flat reverse printed "Pellatt & Green / Patented / LONDON"; rim fan cut; reverse covered with small cross-cut diamonds on a circular panel. (b) Low, circular shape, with rounded sides covered with pairs of cut leaves, alternately with cut veins or fine cross-hatching; base with four cut and cross-hatched ovals, forming a square with concave sides in the center; cut star and diagonal lines; polished rim.Provenance
