Physical DescriptionColorless and yellow non-lead glasses; insert and base pressed, shade mold-blown, acid etched. (a) Circular bowl-like base of yellow glass, with fluted rim; overall pattern of closely spaced deep hobnails; polished pontil mark in center of base, within the smallest circle of hobnails; (b) cylindrical shade, mold-blown in a swirled rib pattern of pale yellow glass, with acid finish; hole, top and bottom rim are roughly ground; acid finish inside and out; (c) circular candle-cup insert pressed of colorless glass in vertically ribbed pattern; marked: "S.CLARKE'S/TRADE FAIRY MARK" on interior base above and below the figure of a fairy with a wand; (d) squat white candle of wax or tallow with a paper cover marked: "PRICE'S /'SENTINEL'/NIGHT LIGHT/Made in England/BURN UPRIGHT IN OPEN SAUCER WITHOUT WATER".
