Interpretive Notes
This patent covers the process of combining the colorless and opaque white layers. Very few examples exist today. It probably was not a commercial success.
Physical DescriptionFiery opalescent and colorless non-lead glasses; pressed. Hemispherical shape of colorless glass flaring at fire-polished rim; lower surface has an outer layer of opalescent glass with a pressed design of vertical flutes similar to the gadrooning commonly found on silver; circular foot is also of this opalescent glass "B P & Co PATD SEP 29TH 1874" embossed on base.
