Physical DescriptionColorless and transparent dark red non-lead glasses; blown, cut, engraved. (a) Thistle-shaped bowl, with step faceting at base; engraved heads of winged angels on the sides, with the remaining spaces filled in with foliate scrolls and flowers; stem containing spirally-twisted red threads in the form of a tall, facet-cut, inverted baluster, swelling at the base; domed and folded foot, with a ring of cut ovals on the upper side; rough pontil mark. (b) Double-domed shape with folded rim and inset brim; engraved foliate scrolls and flowers; ring of oval facets at the top, below a facet-cut pointed ovoid finial containing spirally-twisted red threads (one is an opaque orange-pink); rough pontil mark.Provenance
