Interpretive Notes
The socketed saucer held the cup steady and prevented spillage.
Physical DescriptionSaucer (Trembleuse). Caldedonio, aventurine. Blown; sprinkled aventurine flakes. Saucer consisting of broad foot tapering upward, with uneven base that curves to shallow plate with curved, fire-polished rim; pontil mark on base. Inside of both parts is greenish blue; outside of saucer is decorated with oval spots of aventurine glass melted into surface.
