Interpretive NotesThis goblet and similar vessels show how difficult it is to distinguish Venetian glass from copies made elsewhere in Europe. The high quality of the glass, the inspired shape, and the great craftsmanship suggest that this object was produced either in Venice or by a Venetian craftsman who worked in some other location.
