Physical DescriptionVessel, "A" Black Form ("Contiguous Fragment Black" series). Opaque black, orange, cobalt blue non-lead glasses; blown, hot "pick-up" shard decoration, sandblasted, acid-etched. Heavy walled opaque black vessel with thick, narrow, rounded, lipless opening; short neck blending directly into rounded shoulder, straight cylindrical body tapering to narrow base; body decorated on one side with vertical abstract shard decoration in layers of orange and cobalt blue, sandblasted and carved to imitate the marquetry technique, opposite wall has single central horizontal, roughly rectangular shard of cobalt over orange; walls taper to narrow base mirroring shoulder angles; overall acid-etching giving matte finish; solid base ground and polished flat, no pontil; inscribed in script near base: "Joel Philip Myers 1980".Provenance
