Physical DescriptionColorless lead glass; blown, cut and engraved. (a) Taper shape -- slender conical body tapering into short neck with narrow flange; cut band of narrow flutes around lower body, tapering panel-flutes on neck; engraved, on one side, "THE LODGE OF FORTITUDE" arching above crossed square and compass enclosing "79" and, on the other, "EAST SMITHFIELD" in arc over "LONDON" above "1807"; polished pontil mark. (b) Flat pear stopper with wide beveled sides.Provenance
