Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass, cold polychrome enamel paint, adhesive; blown bowl, hotworked stem and base, both parts ground and adhered, cold-painted with enamel paint, some reverse painting. Tall polychrome chalice, bowl in shape of stylized human skull, painted band just below rim extending around circumference (gold background, undulating blue-green ribbon with red dots, fanned lavender and green designs interspersed), back of skull left unpainted except for small triangular patch near base of blue edged with yellow depicting white stars, crescent moon and comet (reverse painted with abstract linear pattern), front facial area painted with white background overlaid with blended colored patches and patterning of small white spirals, eye and nose sockets black with white detailing, raised teeth and mouth grey with white details (facial area reverse painted with linear patterning, half-sun radiating from top over two faces with radiating coronas placed behind eye sockets); bowl adhered to small solid sphere unpainted in front except for a base red band with blue dots, showing red from underpainting of back as view of earth from outer space; sphere tops tall narrow solid stem of colorless hot-worked in shape of female figure with raised face, protruding breasts and navel, articulated hips, legs and feet, figure painted in rainbow of colors with black details, one painted arm raised above head, the other wraps around back, minute black hatching extending over colors from waist to feet, torso reverse painted with red and black background with linear white skulls painted on black; feet rest on solid unpainted knop connected to wide, solid, slightly conical base painted with radiating banding of yellow with blue dots and green pointed edging on yellow/orange "leaves" over blue background depicting the sky and stars, base edged with copper paint, green linear edging and hook patterning; no pontil.
