Interpretive Notes
Calcedonio is a marbled glass that mimics a type of stone called chalcedony. It was first produced in Venice during the 1400s. The missing foot of this bowl was recently restored in matching glass.
Physical DescriptionCalcedonio Bowl. Translucent calcedonio. Footed(?) bowl: depressed hemispherical, with spreading, somewhat distorted rim. Calcedonio thread was applied under rim, and rim was folded onto it, leaving stepped edge. Joined with large glue-bit to replacement pedestal foot of colorless glass with infolded rim.
