Karel Wünsch is one of the pioneering artists of the Czech postwar generation who focus on pushing the boundaries of glass as an artistic medium. This vase is one example of his sculptural treatment of the vessel, which was influenced by the work of contemporary artists such as the German-born French sculptor Jean Arp.
Physical DescriptionColorless, translucent red and opaque white glass; mold-blown, cased, cut, ground and polished. Tall cylindrical vase that narrows slightly from about mid-body to rim. Vase is light pink shading down to dark pink with the same cut geometric decoration on front and back.
