Physical DescriptionFragment of Dish. [51.1.149-14 and 51.1.145-8 joined together] Transparent light greenish blue, with some small bubbles; decorated in brown, yellowish brown, and yellow. Blown; stained. Fragment of dish. Rim slightly thickened and everted, with rounded lip; wall (Th. 0.2-0.3 cm) tapers before curving down and in. Decorated on both sides with two horizontal bands of repetitive ornament, separated by horizontal brown line on interior. Upper band, on tapering part of wall: on interior, two rows of contiguous brown arcs; in both rows, arcs have ends facing upward and touching their neighbors; rows overlap so that arcs in one meet at midpoints of arcs in other; rising from each meeting point, outline of brown trefoil; on exterior, yellowish brown patch filling trefoil. Lower band, on curved part of wall, painted on interior only: brown vegetal scroll with narrow, pointed leaves that are outlined in brown and filled with yellow. Entire decorated area is covered on inside with transparent pale yellow stain, which apparently "bled" from brown ornament.
