Physical DescriptionTransparent pale green glass with few minute bubbles and impurities; free-blown and diamond-point engraved, with applied decoration. Barrel-shaped body with high "kick" at base having rough pontil mark; six cups ("thumb holes") impressed into the body and projecting into the interior, three heavy threads applied below rim, three others and a base ring applied to lower body; engraved decoration: between the two groups of rings the coats-of-arms of the seven provinces of the United Republic of the Netherlands ("UTRECHT, ZEELANDT, HOLLANDT, GELDERLANDT, VRIESLANDT, OVERYSEL, GROEINGEN"), interspersed with flower sprays, four bands of wavy flower-and-leaf wreaths at rim and between the applied rings; on the right of "UTRECHT" the monogram: "VH".
