Interpretive Notes
Sicilian glass was the first Art Glass made by Mt. Washington. The company advertised it as containing lava from Sicily. Today, collectors call it Lava glass, but the correct name is Sicilian glass.
Physical DescriptionBlack opaque glass with multicolored inset chips; Blown, marvered, tooled, gilded, ground. Vase has narrow foot, widens to sharp shoulder, narrows to neck, and flares at rim. Vase has irregular colored bits throughout (red, green, blue, purple) with gold.
