Interpretive Notes
Glass fibers, like the glass they were made from , don't conduct electricity. That means they're excellent electrical insulators. What's more, fibers made for insulation won't burn or smolder, can tolerate high heat, and won't deteriorate. Spun into threads that are then woven into fabrics, glass fibers are used to insulate wires and cables. Chopped up into short strands and combined with other materials, they're used in circuit boards and insulated parts of electrical equipment such as motors and generators.
