Physical DescriptionThe vase is of white opaline and purple glass; blown, tooled, and applied; it bears elaborate gilded and enameled ornament. The vessel has a trumbet-shaped neck and mouth of opaline glass and an egg-shaped purple body. The base of the neck has gilded decoration and the upper half of the body is decorated with a broad register of gilded and enameled floral decoration between narrow borders with enameled star- or flower-like motifs on a gold background. The vase stands on a patinated bronze foot that rests on a shallow marble plinth. It has two opposed ormolu handles in the form of snakes. They are attached to the rim by a collar.
