Interpretive Notes
The Blaschkas used preformed parts when they created some of their models. These parts include anemone bodies, sea jelly domes, and the central disks of sea stars. The Blaschkas used many different techniques to achieve great variety in shape, size, color, and ornate detail.
Physical DescriptionPart of Glass Model of Marine Animal. Colorless glass; flameworked. Colorless tubular form with ~1 cm long protrusions applied to wider, closed end of tube. Six applied circular trails applied around narrower, open end. Yellowed adhesive appears to have been applied to majority of exterior.
