Physical DescriptionPainted wooden base with colorless blown glass dome, containing a multicolored glass diorama; lampworked and assembled. Overall scene is made up of various colored glass elements assembled into a coastal scene. At the top is a rendering of a town, with 2 houses, a number of trees, and various figures along a road. Next is a train trestle with tunnels at both ends, telegraph poles and lines. The wheels for the train are there but the train is missing. The trestle is constructed of numerous canes of amber/brown glass. Below are two ships in a harbor, a light house to the right, and a coastal path on the left. The "water" is made up a combination of cellophane and cotton. Cotton is also used to fill the spaces behind the diorama.Provenance
