Physical DescriptionTwo Glass Rod Panels Set in a Door. Hot-worked glass, Chinese ink painting on paper. Two glass rod panels framed in black wood, mounted into red lacquer door, cut-paper figures, trees and landscapes in the manner of Chinese ink painting, sandwiched between diagonally assembled glass rods, protected on both sides by later-added plate glass. First panel shows three figures standing on a hill situated beneath a tree. Second panel shows three figures situated beneath a tree; one figure is holding a staff.

The doors were purchased for the new home of Tracy Burke’s parents at Houston, Texas in the early 1970s. The interior was designed by Robert Denning and Vincent Fourcade. Ms. Burke recalls an entry in her mother’s ledger for $700 relating to the purchase of the panels.The doors were purchased for the new home of Tracy Burke’s parents at Houston, Texas in the early 1970s. In 1975, Architectural Digest published an article Turning Back the Clock: Nostalgic Mélange in Houston, introduced the interior design of the house, including an image of the rod panels. Mrs. Burke moved the doors to her home in Colorado following her parents’ death in 2014.
