Interpretive Notes
In 1901, Peter Behrens made his architectural debut. He designed his own home, which was part of a newly established artists’ colony in Darmstadt, Germany. He designed both the home’s architecture and all of its furniture and accessories. This set of drinking glasses was specifically designed for the dining room.
Physical DescriptionColorless and transparent ruby glass; mold-blown. With colorless hemispherical shaped cup atop a red, open cylindrical stem that widens slightly to domed foot.
