The tableware was purchased by William H. Oldknow (1924-2011) and Constantina S. Oldknow (1925-2014) in the early to mid-1960s. Their daughter Tina Oldknow was the curator of Modern and Contemporary Glass at Corning from 2000 to 2015. The Oldknow family lived in Los Angeles. The glasses were bought in the 1960s at auction at what was then Parke-Bernet in New York. The Venetian glasses were reserved for special occasions, used at most, perhaps, about two or three times a year. [AMR 2021-11-23] According to information provided by Tina Oldknow in February 2022, this enameled set of glasses was purchased from the Salviati showroom in Venice (on the Grand Canal) between 1962-1964.
