Physical DescriptionPick for Stringed Instruments. The pick is made of high-purity silica glass. It is illustrated with a scene drawn by Nao Yoshihara based on the Japanese Ukiyo-e tradition that depicts the ¾ view head of the head of a woman and her right upper arm and hand, holding a fan that contains wording in the logo style of the International Year of Glass; it reads: "Glass, 2022, Japan". The pick is contained within purpose-designed packaging, including a paper box, the top labeled with: "International Year of Glass, 2022, Japan, Closing Conference in Japan, A bright future for Glass Dec. 8-9, 2022"; a plastic dome-shaped stand for the pick, and a plastic framed enclosure for the pick; the pick is enclosed in two layers of film. The pick was a gift to all participants from the organizers of the closing conference for the U.N. International Year of Glass held in Tokyo, Japan, December 8-9, 2022. Its use was demonstrated during the conference by two jazz guitarists, Joshua Breakstone and Satoshi Inoue.
