Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, engraved. Large round- funnel bowl; polished, flat rim; band of polished circular facets below the rim, with a fine, cut groove below them; the sides with a wide engraved band, featuring a depiction of the American eagle, with shield of 33 stars and thirteen stripes on its breast, a ribband in its beak inscribed "EPLURIBUS/UNUM" fluttering overhead, and thirteen stars, above a trophy with two crossed American flags, each with 43 stars, and a single shell with two oars, a pole, a rudder, and an anchor, with scattered flowers and foliage; on the reverse, engraved large, elaborate scrollwork, fruit and foliage; cut rounded panels at the base of the bowl, with polished ovals in each panel; tall stem, composed of two mereses, a flattened ball knop with cut facets, two mereses, an inverted baluster with cut facets above panels, and a capstan element at the base; large, circular foot with downturned (not folded), polished rim; engraved foliate scrolls and a border of polished ovals within a matte band.Provenance
