Interpretive Notes
This coin, which is styled after ancient Roman coins, shows the bust of the emperor Nero. Royal Flemish glass, which was made with a variety of enameled and gilded decorations from 1888 to 1895, was extremely popular. Although the name would point to a European origin, the decoration is not based on Flemish designs.
Physical DescriptionColorless glass; white metal; blown and enameled. Ovoid body covered with enamel decoration in shades of brown and beige; gilt tracing and three medallions, two gold and one silver; white metal collar, handle and lid.
