Some Japanese tombs contained thousands of these beads deposited as gifts for the dead.
Physical DescriptionStrand of 52 Kodama (Small Beads). Translucent grayish-blue glass; beadmaking. Various shapes, some almost tubular, but short, some slightly rounded out; ends flat and rough (unpolished); pitted on surfaces; traces of clay and red pigment from the burial.
