Physical DescriptionSnuff Bottle (粉紅套黑色玻璃鼻烟壺). (a) Translucent pink and dark brown glass (appearing black; blown, cameo carved. Bottle with a flat lip and recessed flat, oval foot surrounded by a protruding flat, oval foot rim; carved as a single overlay with mask-and-ring handles on each narrow side. (b) Green jadeite stopper with cork shaft and bone/ivory spoon.Provenance

Emmanuel Dimitri Gran was an architect born in Russia who moved to Shanghai in 1917, where he began collecting Chinese works of art. He subsequently relocated to Hong Kong in 1932, and to the United States in 1941, eventually becoming Vice President of Hilton Hotels.
