Interpretive Notes
Sicilian glass was the first Art Glass made by Mt. Washington. The company advertised it as containing lava from Sicily. Today, collectors call it Lava glass, but the correct name is Sicilian glass.
Physical DescriptionOpaque black glass; blown and gilded. Urn-shape with everted rim; irregular fragments of colored glass are randomly imbedded in surface, random lines of gilt decoration all over surface; circular flat base; polished pontil mark.
