Physical DescriptionTranslucent white ("opal"), with black, translucent yellow, and transparent red stripes, apparently cased with colorless; lid has knop with translucent red, transparent amber glasses, and transparent red and translucent white elements; jar and cover: parison decorated with applied trails, marvered, apparently cased, and inflated; cover also has hotworked knop. (a) Jar. Rim plain, outsplayed, with rounded lip; upper one-third of wall bulges, tapers until body is narrower than rim, and then descends, splaying outward, before curving inward at bottom; base plain, concave; pontil mark. Exterior completely covered from immediately below lip with yellow, black, red, and black stripes (the arrangement repeated twice, the white base glass appearing intermittently between each pair of stripes), which descend from rim, swirling slightly from right to left. Scratched signature at bottom of wall: "James H. Nadel 75" (cursive). (b) Cover: hollow, with elaborate knop. Upper part squat and roughly conical, with rounded edge; lower part cylindrical, with plain rim; pontil mark; knop consists of red merese supporting vertical amber disk, with red and white loop projecting from edge.Provenance
