Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, engraved. Thistle-shaped bowl with long, waisted base; carved in high relief with four foliage-framed panels, one containing the Schaffgotsch pine-tree badge, with the inscription "Aucun tem-ps ne le Change," a representation of Bacchus being drawn in a carriage by two animals, an elaborate building surrounded by water, and a female figure (Venus?) drawn in a carriage by two swans; the base of the bowl decorated with scrolled panels and deep facets; large ball knop with relief-carved foliate medallions, each with a diamond boss at center; circular foot with relief-carved acanthus leaves and engraved flowers and foliage; rough pontil mark.
