Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, engraved, gilt. Tapered bowl with waisted base, gilt rim; engraved decoration of a man, whose face is formed as a man-in-the-moon, driving a chariot through the clouds, drawn by four horses, with stars in the background, scrolls below and at the sides; inscribed on the reverse "Sinpoterit Noxterre/Vitro prognostica Phoebos/ Enbibe trinafaVet No/MINE Slella Dies/P.M.M.M.Y.C.I/1728"; bubble in thick bowl base; band of engraved stars around the waist; stem composed of an angular knop above a basal ball knop, both containing an air bubble; domed and folded foot with ring of engraved stars around the rim; ground pontil mark with engraved lion rampant.
