Physical DescriptionOpaque light blue non-lead glass; blown, enameled, gilt; cast and engraved pewter cover. Spreading, straight-sided, cylindrical form; gilt lines near the top and bottom; opaque white enamel dotted shield with foliage and flowers, enclosing the gilt inscription "Wer nicht/Liebt, Lebt/Vergebens,"; applied loop handle, curled at the lower terminal; hinged pewter cover attached to the handle, with elaborate scrolled terminal; domed molded cover with heavy vertical ribbing on the sides, a band of diamonds in a ring on top, with engraved script inscription "B. Fleischman/1827."; urn-shaped thumbpiece; slightly concave bottom with rough pontil mark.
