Physical DescriptionColorless lead glass; mold-blown, cut, encased, gilt metal foil, gilt stamped metal mounts. Square shape, with flat faces, and hinged square cover; top with an oval convex plaque enclosing an enameled gold foil spray of flowers, with a pink rose, two buds, a viola, and green leaves and stems, attached to the center of the cover with a gilt metal band, with pointed lappets grasping the "jewel" and a sleeve fitting through the cover, attached to a ring within; the rounded top of the box with three cut grooves on the sides, intersecting at the corners; sides with large panels formed by intersecting pairs of cut grooves; foliate stamped metal bands on the rim of the cover and base, hinged at the back, with a semicircular lock plate on the front, with floral-decorated plate on the keyhole; base with cut grooves at the top, cut vertical ribs below; cut star on the base.

Purchased from Louis Lyons in 1984 using funds from the Clara S. Peck Endowment Fund. Catalogue cards say that these objects were a bequest of Clara S. Peck (by exchange), and the purchase recommendation says the museum planned to use funds acquired by deaccessioning duplicate paperweights, including some given by Mrs. Amory Houghton and Mrs. Leigh M. Battson. Several paperweights bequeathed by Clara S. Peck in 1983 were also deaccessioned around that time.
