Physical DescriptionTranslucent emerald-green glass, bubbly with thin iridescent film and patches of light brown weathering crust flaking off; cast, lathe-cut and polished with additional wheel-cutting. Fragment preserves horizontal handle cut on the upper surface in the shape of a bucranium or bull's skull draped with a garland which flows down either side in a gentle curve and out along the rim of the vessel to form a more substantial handle support. The horizontal rim flares out into a rounded band which has been cut on the upper surface by two deep lathe-cut grooves leaving a high ridge in relief between the two and accenting the circumference; the profile moves in horizontally and the preserved surface retains a wheel-cut garland parts of which may have been filled with a contrasting colored glass past. The underside of the rim is concave as far as preserved.Provenance
