Physical DescriptionClear glass with few minute bubbles; free-blown, cut and engraved. Folded conical foot with airtrap (?) and rough pontil mark, inverted baluster stem, surmounted by a flat cushioned knob supporting the funnel bowl; the baluster is paneled and faceted, the knob is also faceted, the bottom of the bowl has short disks above facets; the engraved decoration on the foot consists of volutes and spirals of tendrils and blossoms; the bowl is covered with two heavily ornamented coats-of-arms of Louis XV of France (?): one with the fleurs-de-lis, surrounded by cannons, flags and spears, the other with the number "XV" in between tendrils and branch-and-leaf ornaments; both are surmounted by royal crowns, next to the cannons are two piles of cannon-balls, above are two cartouche-like ornaments, again consisting of tendrils, ribbons and blossoms.Provenance
