Physical DescriptionColorless, opaque red-brown and white, transparent green, blue non-lead glasses, wood, brass, steel; filigree rods, cut to length, assembled in wood frame. (a) Straight sided, rectangular shape, with hinged, flat top; the top formed of a silvered wood frame with central divider, holding numerous lengths of straight rods, some containing filigree twists, mostly of circular cross-section, some flattened; the top hinged to the base with three wire loops; angular iron projection at the front, on the underside, part of the locking mechanism; the base of the box with silvered and gilded wood frame on top, silvered wood vertical corner posts, and sloping wood base frame with central divider; more lengths of glass rods arranged vertically in the sides, with additional rods arranged in the base; wood divider on the front, faced with dark red-brown and white rods, holding the lock; shield-shaped lock plate; the wood strips on the bottom painted dark yellowish-brown; (b) flat, loop grip; tubular projection with turned, incised lines; projecting square tooth at the end.
