Physical DescriptionColorless and polychrome non-lead glass; sheet glass, lampworked elements, painted, assembled. (a) Rectangular wood platform, with lengths of molding set on top of 4 sides; sides veneered, inlaid with herringbone strips; 4 gilt-metal claw-and-ball feet; oak top; elaborate 3-part building assembled on top, right building with steep roof line, curved gable ends reverse-painted to resemble pink brick; roof formed of parallel lengths of twisted red rods; chest of drawers, wall-mounted table, chairs, looking glass, vase of flowers within; central building painted to resemble pink brick with double doors, window dated "[18]03" in gold on black; roof of red twisted rods, surmounted by rectangular structure and windmill with paneled blue structure, man standing on walkway at base of windmill support structure; the building at the left reverse-painted to suggest tan wood plank siding; the sloping roof with short lengths of yellow glass rods; a lean-to at the far left, also with yellow glass rods on the roof; within the lean-to, a yellow cart and other tools; a ladder propped against the front of the open double doors on the building at far left, with a man pushing a wheelbarrow from inside; another man, wearing a purple coat, carrying a large white sack on his back, walks toward that building; a pile of glass "hay" at the far left, front corner, with a rake alongside; a dog in front of the central house, a woman feeding chickens in front of the house at far right; a garden with pear tree, flowers, and topiary bushes in a rectangular garden enclosed in a white picket fence at the far right; the foreground of the scene representing water (presumably a channel), with 2 purple and 2 white swans at left; narrow, rectangular dock in center, with child standing in center, piles of clothes and hat alongside; man in rowboat.
