Physical DescriptionMulti-colored non-lead glass; (a) blown in sections, cut, sandblasted, reheated and worked then fused, (b) blown roundels cut, polished and fused. (a) Long straight-sided and slightly necked hollow section of translucent light blue, topped with an orange lip wrap and footed with a domed section edged in orange lip wrap; this section is attached while hot to large bell- shaped section of translucent lavender cased in colorless with narrow yellow vertical stripes, edges of bell are deeply cut forming teeth which are curved inwardly and fused to a domed base platter of darkly lavender with a flattened rim edged with two orange lip wraps. Signed on underside of base: "Van Deurzen/#2021/'84". (b) Flat fan-shaped section in the form of a Japanese head ornament or coiffure composed of fused geometric and curvilinear elements in orange, pink, green, blue, aqua, yellow and purple with short pieces of pulled cane; lower "handle" extension is inserted into a bubble of colorless which tapers to form stopper.
