Physical DescriptionAlmost colorless but with pale purple tint plastic; turned, engraved, drilled, wheel-cut. Hemispherical body; outsplayed rim with rounded lip and raised molding slightly above bottom; design calls for openwork band at base of neck and openwork cage enclosing body; band would consist of ovolo frieze with egg-shaped perforations separated by darts; cage would consist of central mesh surrounded by two rings of meshes and concentric border; central circular mesh would be attached to body by seven bridges; inner ring would have seven heart-shaped meshes, and outer ring fourteen oval meshes; in both rings, small cruciform element at junction of each pair of meshes would conceal bridge; serrated bar at upper end of each heart-shaped mesh would also conceal bridge; as would V-shaped element at upper end of each oval mesh, where it meets border; around border, between each pair of meshes, would be one additional bridge; openwork, however, is incomplete; one-quarter of ovolo frieze and two complete and two halves of adjacent oval meshes are finished; two oval meshes on either side of completed meshes are half-finished (no undercutting), as are five heart-shaped meshes and central mesh; six oval meshes and two heart-shaped meshes have engraved outlines but no cutting.
