Physical DescriptionAlmost colorless, with yellowish green tinge; few very small bubbles. Blown; applied, relief-cut. Fragment of ewer, consisting of about 25 percent of rim, perhaps 20 percent of neck, upper part of handle, and part of thumb-rest. Rim plain, with bevel on inside; neck is straight and tapers; handle, with strap-shaped cross section, rises vertically above rim, then bends in and down, and is attached to neck just below rim; it has prominent thumb-rest at highest point. Neck and handle have relief-cut decoration. On neck: part of panel defined by relief-cut border, which is parallel to rim and vertical on either side of handle, but with curved recesses at top; surviving ornament to left of handle consists of parts of one or more notched relief-cut motifs that have not been identified. Thumb-rest had incised and openwork decoration, and upper part of handle has two openwork lyre-shaped motifs, upright at top and inverted at bottom.Provenance
