Physical DescriptionPreserving Jar, Lid, Screw and Rubber. Aquamarine non-lead glass, rubber, lead; jar: blown; lid: pressed. Cylindrical shape with wide mouth, rough ground edge seal; inscription on obverse: "MILLVILLE / ATMOSPHERIC / FRUIT JAR" on reverse: 'WHILALL'S PATENT / JUNE 18TH 1861"; pressed lid fastened with iron clasp - lid embossed: 'WHITALL'S PATENT JUNE 18TH 1861" around perimeter.
