Interpretive NotesAlthough North Americans often use this term for masculine scents, “eau de Cologne” simply refers to a substance with a lighter ratio of perfume oils to alcohol than traditional perfume or eau de toilette. To house this more diluted fragrance, glass and perfume manufacturers often created larger bottles. The engraved silver overlay on this pair was personalized with its owner’s initials, “A. M.”
