Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, engraved. Ovoid bowl; engraved geometric border; engraved oval panel on the side, enclosing a coat of arms, with helmet and crest; elaborate, scrolled frame with putti; cut oval facets, framed, in a band at the base of the bowl; stem composed of a merese, a faceted flattened ball knop, a merese, a faceted inverted baluster, and two disks at the base; large circular foot with engraved floral swags, and a border matching that on the rim of the bowl; pontil mark with engraved stylized flower; long paper label inscribed in brown ink, "Arms of the family von und zu Aufsess-/Bavaria & Austria ... (?) c 1745"; remains of a crudely inscribed white paint collection number, now indecipherable.Provenance
